Sprinter 170
A Sprinter 170 with the air conditioning mounted underneath — clearing the roof for a pop-top and rack, with four berths and real off-grid range.
Build Overview
Skyrise puts the air conditioning where you cannot see it — mounted underneath the van instead of on the roof. That one decision frees the entire roof deck for the pop-top and the safari rack, and it keeps the unit down low where it stays serviceable. What is left is a Sprinter 170 with four berths — two in the pop-top, two in the elevator bed over a convertible dinette — giving a family real off-grid range without surrendering cargo space.
Power is a 920Ah heated lithium bank with a 3000W Victron inverter and 400W of solar. Climate is hydronic heating and hot water paired with that under-mounted 12V air conditioning in a triple-split undermount; refrigeration is sized to the layout, cooking is slide-out induction, and a full wet bath carries a stowable dry-flush toilet. A safari roof rack, awning, L-track, swivel seats, and dedicated rear cargo and stroller storage finish it, under a whitewashed bamboo ceiling and solid-surface CNC counters.
Tour the Build
New Jersey Outdoor Adventures walks the Skyrise end to end — the under-floor air conditioning that clears the roof for the pop-top, the elevator bed over a convertible lounge, the full wet bath, and how the 920Ah power, hydronic heat, and off-grid systems fit together.

Serviceability
Every system in this van can be reached without taking the van apart. Service hatches behind the walls. Removable panels in the upper and lower cabinetry. Wiring runs in accessible trays, not sealed behind finished surfaces.
Van interiors get built like furniture. Ours get built like boats, where everything has to be serviceable because you cannot pull over in the middle of the ocean. Five years from now, when a pump or a fan needs attention, your builder will not have to cut into a cabinet to find it.
