Embarking on your custom van journey is an exciting adventure! It all begins with a $10,000 deposit to secure your place in our queue. From there, we guide you through a well-structured process that ensures a seamless and enjoyable experience. To simplify things, we’ve divided the journey into three Phases, every step is crucial to delivering a high-quality, fully personalized van that meets and exceeds your expectations.

Please note: Exterior modifications may extend the estimated 4-month build time.

PHASE 1: Understanding Your Vision

  • 1. Meet & Greet

    We connect in person or over the phone to learn about your vision and requirements.

  • 2. Proposal Creation

    Together, we develop an initial proposal for your custom build.

  • 3. $10K Refundable Build Queue Reservation

    A $10,000 deposit secures your spot in our build queue, which is currently booking 6–8 months in advance.

    At this stage, we’ve outlined your vision and agreed on an initial proposal.

    The deposit is applied to your total build cost and ensures your place in line for production.

PHASE 2: Preparing for Perfection (Approx. 8 Weeks)

  • 1. 3D Design Development

    The design phase kicks off with a detailed 3D rendering of your van’s interior.

    This rendering includes elements such as cabinetry, lighting, and the overall layout.

    Once approved by both parties, no further design changes can be made.

  • 2. 75% Production Deposit & Material Orders

    We collect 75% of the total build cost to order materials and appliances.

    Ordering early ensures all components are ready when production starts.

  • 3. CNC Design and Development

    Using advanced CNC technology, we design and prepare your custom cabinetry and framework.

    If we haven’t scanned your van’s specific make and model, we may need it on-site for precise measurements.

PHASE 3: Bringing Your Vision to Life (Approx. 8 Weeks)

  • This is when your dream takes physical form. 

    Note: Your van must be on-site by the start of this chapter to avoid forfeiting your spot in the queue.

  • 1. Building the Foundation

    We begin by installing insulation, subflooring, and framing kits.

    Windows and ceiling-mounted components (e.g., fans, AC units) are cut and installed.

    Water and lithium battery systems are also set up during this stage.

  • 2. Deposit (15%)

    Custom cabinetry is CNC-cut and installed, followed by wall and ceiling paneling.

    This phase involves meticulous craftsmanship to ensure a flawless and durable build.

  • 3. Final Deposit (10%)

    The final stage includes the installation of all appliances, such as the fridge, cooking units, and other equipment.

    Trim work and system testing are conducted to ensure everything is road-ready and functioning perfectly.

  • Yes, many people choose to live in their camper vans full-time, enjoying a nomadic lifestyle. However, this decision comes with various challenges related to logistics, regulations, and lifestyle adjustments.

  • The time it takes to complete a camper van conversion depends on the complexity of the project. Our standard floorpans can take anywhere from 7-8 weeks. A custom van conversion can take several months for engineering, design, and production.

  • In theory, most vans can be converted into camper vans, but for our team here at Sequoia and Salt, some vans are much more suitable than others. High-roof vans and extended wheelbase models often provide more space for conversion and better comfort.

  • Yes, Absolutely, our camper van conversions are designed to support off-grid camping, commonly referred to as "boondocking." We make sure your van is equipped with adequate power, freshwater supply, and a reliable waste management system to support extended off-grid stays.
